Mike Spiller, PGA
1st Assistant Golf Professional
My love affair for this game started at the age of 6 when my father would bring me to the golf course to ride shotgun while he played. Mildly interested in the game, I spent more time fishing for balls from the lake than hitting them into it. From the start, I enjoyed just being at the course. As I grew in age and maturity, I became interested and eventually obsessed with hitting the ball higher, straighter and farther. As I absorbed the game’s unique collision of serenity, camaraderie, and challenge, I became hooked for life. This enjoyment of being around the game is at the heart of my instruction. I love teaching. I truly enjoy being part of my student’s experience as they develop their own unique connection to the game. Path, face, and attack angle are fundamental, but without fun, just make you mental. Get off the range, and onto the course as often as possible. Learning to swing the club is one part of golf. Getting the ball in the hole and all the crazy things that happen from tee to green are why we do this.
